Bong Miners gather in Philadelphia
The Association of Bong Miners (ABM) in the Diaspora will hold its annual convention early next month in the US city of Philadelphia.
The convention will be chaired by Lydia Fallah-Lloyd.
Bong Mines is a former mining settlement in central Liberia. ABM is made of former residents of the community now living in the diaspora.
According to the association’s Vice President Emmanuel Chelleh, the event begins on the 2nd of August and ends on the 4th.
Bong Miners and other Liberians from all over the world, not only from the United States, are expected to attend the program.
Festivities start with a ‘meet and greet’ while a ball and dinner night come on Saturday.
Mr. Chelleh said the convention’s main attraction will be a grand queen contest intended to raise funds for the continuous electrification of the hospital in Bong Mines.
Theresa Nyumah-Williams will represent the East Coast in the queen contest while Fatu Koenig will bear the torch of Rest of the World.
Liberian musical legend Fatu Gayflor and Liberian-Canadian singer/ songwriter Joshel Addai will perform during the event.
