Nigerian striker wins female league title in Sweden
Nigerian international Anam Imo lifted the Swedish female football most prestigious trophy when Rosengard won the championship on Saturday after a beating Kristianstad 1-0.
The 18-year-old striker, in her first season with the club, scored five times in 17 appearances, to help Rosengard win the league, the first since 2015, four points ahead of Gothenburg of Evelyn Ijeh, the daughter of former Nigerian striker Peter Ijeh. Both teams will represent Sweden in the champions’ league next year.
Other African players of notable mention in the premiership, Damallsvenskan, are South African Leandra Smeda who placed third with Vittsjo, Nigerians Halimatu Ayinde and Ngozi Okobi of 4th placed Ekilstuna United.
