The chairperson of the board of trustees of the Grand Kru Technical College (GKTC) Prof. Weade Kobbah-Boley has awarded 10 scholarships to students of the college.

Prof. Dr. Josephus Gray, acting president of the college, said the chairman of Grand Kru County Legislative Caucus, Senator Numene T.H Bartekwa also awarded 55 scholarships.

The superintendent of Grand Kru County Antoinette Worwlee Nimely awarded 30 scholarships while Joe N. Sekpeh, county development officer, also gave five scholarships with four scholarships offered by acting president Gray.

Dr. Gray has instructed that the scholarships be awarded to students on the basis of merit and to the most needy students whose parents cannot afford to sponsor them to enroll.

‘’We are incredibly thankful to receive such a huge scholarship donation which we believed will make a great impact on the lives of the over 300 students and bring great relief to them aimed at pursuing quality education at the Grand Kru Technical College,’’ Dr. Gray noted.

GKTC administration praised the board members for the numerous support towards quality teaching and learning at the institution, and for the trust in the administration to ensue a robust new academic system to change the old narrative and put the college on par with other institutions in the country.

GKTC was established by an act of Liberia’s legislature in 2019. Almost three years later in January 2022 a board of trustees was appointed by the former President of Liberia George Manneh Weah to set policy directions and guide the college’s administration.

Since its appointment, the board has taken several measures to ensure that the college fulfills its core values, missions and objectives.

Through the unique, farsighted, dynamic and assiduous efforts of the board of trustees, chaired by an accomplished and illustrious Liberian academician, Professor Dr. Weade Kobbah-Boley, we stand now to achieve a whole lot, Dr. Gray said.

Dr. Gray has disclosed that whosoever shall be appointed as the next president of GKTC by Liberian President Joseph N. Boakai will inherit an institution with remarkable progress, academic gains and high level of quality education and a peaceful academic environment.
