Liberia: Chocolate City tournament ends

A week of exciting football and kickball encounters ended on Sunday, August 9 in Chocolate City, a community just outside Monrovia, the capital of Liberia.

The tourney was organized by a local group, Beacon All stars to honor Rep Thomas Fallah, who is a ruling party candidate in the December  elections.

Liberia’s finance minister Samuel Tweh sponsored the event.

Frankie Jacob scored twice to give Block 1307-D a 2-0 victory over Block 1305-B in the football final and lift the trophy.

In kickball, a female game, Block 1307-A whipped Block 1305-B by a score of 8-7 home runs to win the competition.

The football winners and runners-up collected 50,000 and 25,000 Liberian dollars respectively while the kickball champion and the losing finalist received 25,000 and 15,000 Liberian dollars respectively.

Jacob won the highest scorer crown while Sylvester Boakai was named most valuable player (MVP). 

Korto Mulbah was named MVP in the kickball category.

MVP awardees in both categories and the highest scorer took home 5,000 Liberian dollars each.
