Kamara wins football championship in Sweden
Sierra Leonean striker Alhaji Kamara on Saturday became a proud winner of Sweden’s most valuable football crown as IFK Norrkoping overcame Gothenburg 2-0 to win the premiership.
The 21-year-old was not on the scoresheet on the league’s last day after hitting the net five times in the last three previous matches but golden boot winner Emir Kujovic and Arnor Traustason made sure Norrkoping took home the championship title for the first time since 1989.
One African who sparkled last Saturday was DR Congo hitman Rene Makondele who struck twice to give BK Hacken a 2-1 win over Helsingborg while Liberian Sam Johnson scored in Djurgarden’s 4-2 win to take his total to ten goals in his debut season.
Henok Gotiom, who ended the championship as second highest scorer with 18 goals, scored a 60th minute equaliser as 3rd placed AIK clinched a 1-all draw away to Orebro while Congolese-born forward Tshutshu Wa Tshakasua scored for Gefle in a 2-1 victory over Atvidaberg.
Kalmar clinched a 2-2 draw at runners-up Gothenburg with Senegalese frontman Papa Alioune Diouf providing one of the goals.
