Gabon to host pan-African economic forum
The 4th edition of the New York Forum AFRICA, the only pan-African economic forum to be held in Africa in 2015, will bring together more than 1500 business and political leaders on May 29-31 2015 in Libreville, Gabon.
The theme for NYFA 2015, organized under the high patronage of Ali Bongo Ondimba, President of the Gabonese Republic, is Invest in the Energy Continent.
It will focus on the new dynamism in the continent, its entrepreneurs, economic and investment opportunities, the growing energy sector, jobs creation, as well as education and innovation, to draw up a roadmap for the continent’s transformation.
Participants will take part in action-orientated debates and panels, as well as sector-specific breakout sessions and workshops to define concrete actions for sustainable and efficient investment into the energy of the continent. Which reforms are efficient? Which economic diversification strategy works best? How should the expansion of sectors such as transportation, telecommunications, financial services, tourism,… best be supported ?
The NYFA2015 Marketplace, a meeting place for business and political stakeholders to design partnerships and exchange opportunities will include an Investor’s Lounge. A carefully curated selection of African start-ups, each with an invention that has the power to bring about significant change, will be invited to showcase their work.
The Forum will also host the second edition of the African Citizen Summit will focus on job creation and enterprise in Africa.
The NYFA 2015 will follow the first edition of The Climate South Initiative (CSI), taking place on May 28 and 29 in Libreville, with the goal of defining the role of the global South in addressing climate change and framing actionable solutions, -in the run-up to COP21 in Paris in December 2015.
