FIFA world rankings: Algeria leads in Africa
Algeria is Africa’s top football nation, according to the latest edition of the FIFA world football rankings.
The north African nation, which is the first of six African countries on FIFA’s top 50, occupies the 32nd spot on the world rankings to lead in Africa.
African champion Ivory Coast at number 35 on the global rankings is second on the continent while Ghana (36), Senegal(41) and Egypt (43) are 3rd, 4th and 5th respectively.
Africa’s 6th best ranked team, at number 45, is Tunisia while Cameroon (53) comes next with Morocco (54) at the 8th position .
Democratic Republic of Congo (59) and Mali (61) complete the continent’s top ten at the 9th and 10th places.
Argentina, Belgium, Colombia, Germany and Chile are the world’s top five football nations.
