EFLA launches Liberia coronavirus fund drive
The European Federation of Liberian Associations (EFLA) has started a humanitarian drive to reach out to the disadvantaged in and around Liberia’s capital, Monrovia.
“As we all know that COVID-19 has impacted the lives of many of us in Europe and the world over, our fellow compatriots in Liberia are the ones who are vastly affected due to the lack of social and economic infrastructures,” said EFLA Secretary General Francis Mensah in a What’s App post.
He said the EFLA Humanitarian Drive was initiated by EFLA President Mayango C. Arku in “consultation with his counsels.”
The funds donated in Europe will go toward the purchasing of basic necessities such as rice, disinfectants etc, Mensah added.
EFLA, he noted, will appreciate any amount and all donations should be sent to the organizations’s account: BNP PARIBAS FORTIS, BE19 0014 9598 3712.
Mensah added that the initiative has the following objectives:
1. To provide some basic needs to our financially disadvantage compatriots in Monrovia and its environs.
2. To supplement efforts by philanthropic organizations, goodwill Liberians at home and abroad in helping the disadvantaged who cannot adequately continue their daily hustle to buy food due to the State Of Emergency.
3. To support awareness in Liberia about the Coronavirus through the media.
4. This initiative is likely going to benefit communities in Monrovia (Montserrado) for now and will be extended to neighboring counties depending on the amount raised.
5. EFLA executive committee will be involved in the decision making process as to which community/ies will benefit from this initiative.
