Bong Miners to storm Pennsylvania
US-based Association of Bong Miners will hold a big gathering in Pennsylvania from July 7-9 which is expected to bring together former residents of the Liberian minning community of Bong Mines from across the USA and other countries.
The convention will be held under the theme Giving Back to Our Community.
Organised by a commitee chaired by Lydia Fallah and co-chaired by Sarah Gray, the event will be staged in the city of Yeadon, says a release issued by the association.
The festivities start on Friday, July 7 with a welcome night at 8 pm. This will be time for meet and greet.
The convention gets into full swing the next day at 9:30 am with elections of new officers and a business meeting and strategic planning, and a grand banquet and fundraiser at 8pm.
Philadelphia City Councilman Stanley Straughter will serve as special guest speaker at the banquet.
The convention ends on Sunday with a worship service.
