Turay dribbles past two defenders in the Swedish championship

The top three African strikers in the first half of the Swedish football premiership, Allsvenskan, have left to seek greener pastures in other leagues.

Despite the poor performance of his club, Dalkurd, Sierra Leonean goal poacher Mohamed Buya Turay distinguished himself by banking in nine goals for the relegation-bound club to earn a 1.6m euros move to Belgian side St. Truiden.

“I am delighted to have signed for this great club. It’s a new direction for me and I am ready to work and work harder to help my team and teammates,” Bya told Awoko, a Sierra Leonean paper.

“It is a massive club, and coming from Sweden, I know exactly how much it means to me,” he added.

Gambian striker Pa Amat Dibba scored seven goals for Hammarby before the World Cup break and did so coming on as sub in a number of games. His exploits caught the attention of Chinese second division side Shenzhen FC, which signed the player on a three-year contract.

Another African who proved effective in front of goal in the first half of the season was Zimbabwean Tino Kadewere. The 22-year-old hit eight goals for Djurgarden before French second division side, La Havre came in and signed him on a four-year- deal.

Tunisian midfielder Issam Jebali left struggling Elfsborg for Norwegian side Rosenberg.
