Africans in scoring form in Sweden
The 6th round of Sweden’s top football competition last week saw African players still in scoring form.
Ghana’s Nasiru Mohammed and Sierra Leonean striker Alhassan Kamara scored one goal each as BK Hacken whipped city rivals IFK Goteburg 4-0 to climb up the Allsvenskan table.
Zimbabwean Philana Tino Kadawere brought mid-table Djurgarden to a 3-3 scoreline against Norrkoping, scoring in stoppage time, just two minutes after his side fell behind.
Nigerian striker Kennedy Igboananike struck the opener in the early stages of the second half but he and his Orebro teammates could not hold out and ended up 2-1 losers to defending champions Malmo 2-1 while Gambian forward Pa Amat Dibba scored one in Hammarby’s 4-0 thrashing of Athletic Ekilstuna.
Also, in the 3rd round of the top flight of the female championship, Nigeria’s Rita Chikwelu was on target as Kristianstads beat Limhamn Bunkeflo 3-0.
In the male first division, just one tier below the allsvenskan, Ugandan winger Martin Mutumba hit the back of the net for Orgryte in a 1-1 draw against Oster in a 5th round encounter while Ghanaian Thomas Boakye grabbed a 55th minute equalizer for Varberg in a 1-all scoreline against Syrianska. Ugandan Heradi Rashidi scored once as Dalkurd convincingly trounced Gefle 3-0.
