Amara Darpoh Clarke was in coma for about four weeks

A 33-year-old Liberian man stabbed last month in London, the UK is now out of an induced coma after four weeks.

Amara Darpoh Clarke was on April 18 stabbed multiple times by a neighbor, Lee Francis, after a commotion over a park space.

“We are happy that he left coma last week and that things are progressing slowly,” Fidel C.T. Budy, secretary general of the Union of Liberian Organization in the UK, told Nordic Africa News on Tuesday. 

Budy added that he and the president of the ULOUK Evelyn Duke-DeShield liaised with the British ambassador accredited to Liberia and secured a visa for Clarke’s mother to come to London to be at her son’s bedside. She arrived in the UK just before he came out of the coma. 

38-year-old Francis remains in custody on a charge of grievous bodily harm after being denied bail.
