Kids receive food packages after Sunday worship service at the Chocolate City Baptist Church

An after-church feeding program at a local baptist church in Chocolate City, a community just outside the Liberian capital, Monrovia, will continue for another six months, says a group of former residents of the community now living in the diaspora.

The program caters to children every Sunday after worship service at the Chocolate City Baptist Church and has seen an increase in the number of beneficiaries since it began a few months ago.

During a recent teleconference attended by the former Chocolate City residents now living in the USA and Europe, it was agreed that after the six month-period the program will be evaluated to see whether or not it will be continued.

Two of those who attended the teleconference: Patrick Meniboon and James Whear offered to provide funds for the feeding program for the months of April and May. Others will make contributions to keep the program going for the next four months.

It was also decided that the program (which is being held in partnership with the church) and future projects will be carried out under the banner of the nascent Chocolate City Initiative International.
Meanwhile, another teleconference is scheduled for this Sunday to further discuss, among others, the legal registration of Chocolate City Initiative international.
