Sweden hosts global meeting on migration

On 14-16 May more than 450 delegates from 140 countries will gather in Stockholm, Sweden to discuss migration and development.

Minister for Migration and Asylum Policy Tobias Billström and Minister for International Development Cooperation Hillevi Engström will host the meeting. 

Crown Princess Victoria, Prime Minister Fredrik Reinfeldt and UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon will be speaking at the opening session.

The meeting is taking place under the Swedish Chairmanship of the Global Forum on Migration and Development (GFMD). Key issues to be discussed include the ways in which migration can boost revenues, greater investment in education and health, entrepreneurship and job creation.

While in Sweden, UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon will also meet Prime Minister Fredrik Reinfeldt for talks.
